The Old Barn
The Old Barn
Dating back to the 18th century, The Old Barn was once used as a cattle shelter and granary/feed store, standing untouched for over 50 years. Lovingly restored between 2021 and 2023, we were able to take full advantage of the size and aspect of this stone shippon to create a peaceful retreat for couples, transforming it into a comfortable home whilst preserving its historic charm.
The beautifully designed upstairs open-plan living space features a vaulted ceiling that echoes the barn’s original roof structure, complete with replicas of the old scissor beams. This sense of openness creates a relaxing and inviting atmosphere, perfect for unwinding. The space includes a comfortable seating area and a fully equipped kitchen with a dining area, ensuring everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Throughout the barn, modern comforts blend seamlessly with characterful details. Central heating upstairs and underfloor heating on the ground floor provide warmth and luxury. The spacious ground-floor bedroom boasts a striking vaulted ceiling with oak beams, an exposed stone wall, and a tiled floor with underfloor heating, offering a cozy and stylish retreat.
Perched in an elevated position, The Old Barn enjoys breathtaking views across Dartmoor and beyond, making it a truly special place to stay.
