The Old Barn

The Old Barn dates back to the 18th century and was last used over 50 years ago for housing cattle and as a granary/feedstore. It was renovated from 2021 till 2023, providing a beautiful upstairs open plan living space, with seating area and kitchen dining area. The vaulted ceiling recreates the original barn roof structure, featuring replicas of the old scissor beams, which provide a wonderful feeling of space where guests can relax and unwind, perhaps listening to music with the Bose speaker or enjoying an evening supper after a day's exploring on Dartmoor.

Providing everything you need for your stay, the barn has central heating with underfloor heating throughout the ground floor. A large bedroom, located on the ground floor, features a stunning vaulted ceiling with oak beams, exposed stone wall and tiled floor with underfloor heating.

The elevated position of The Old Barn means the wonderful views to Dartmoor and beyond, with a glimpse of the well known 'Nearly Home' trees, can be seen from the living space and upper deck, which also provides a front row seat at sunset.

 Accommodation in Detail

Ground Floor

A large bedroom features a stunning vaulted ceiling with oak beams, exposed stone wall and tiled floor with underfloor heating. The room has a beautiful wooden superking bed with luxurious memory foam mattress and Egyptian cotton bedding, along with antique furniture and chaise longue.
Next to the bedroom is a large bathroom, which features a luxury freestanding corner bath, large walk-in shower with rainshower head, tiled floor and underfloor heating.
The front door opens into a large entrance hall with utility area. This room has many original features, including oak beams, Delabole slate tile windowsills and character oak staircase leading to the upstairs living space.

Upstairs Living Space

The upstairs open plan living space features a vaulted ceiling, original beams and inset fire. The comfortable seating area looks out onto a large upper deck with glass balustrade which is accessible through the granary doors. From here guests will be able to relax in the sun overlooking Dartmoor as well as our fields with sheep, geese and hens grazing nearby.
The living space also features a beautiful fully equipped kitchen with dining area, where guests can enjoy a full English breakfast or cosy evening dinner for two. The space features a comfortable seating area, with smart HD TV and electric feature fire. A room divider separates this area from the fully equipped kitchen with electric hob, dishwasher and dining area.

Upper Deck, Below Deck & Patio

A large upper deck with glass balustrade is equipped with sun loungers and dining facilities, and is accessible through the upstairs living space granary doors. From here guests will be able to relax in the sun overlooking Dartmoor as well as our fields with sheep, geese and hens grazing nearby.

The deck, which also enjoys the early morning sun, faces west, so is perfectly placed for guests to enjoy spectacular sunsets.

The large entrance hall with utility area leads to the below deck area, which provides an additional private outside seating and dining area, perfect for enjoying an evening barbecue.
