Alder Vineyard, just a short drive from Higher Kellacott, offers vineyard tours and tastings, comprising a tour of the vineyard and winery as well as an opportunity to taste their produce. Tours take around an hour and a half and start at either 11am (or 12.30 - in the summer). On Site 'Feed The Animals' Experience
We offer guests an opportunity to feed our friendly sheep. The hens are also very friendly; they even come to a whistle and are always happy to have a scattering of corn.
We can either leave a bucket of sheep nuts for guests to give over the fence to the sheep, who will come as soon as they hear the bucket shaken.
Or guests are welcome to accompany us into the field to get more hands on.
On Site Couples Beekeeping Experience
We offer guests a private beekeeping experience with us at our home apiary at Higher Kellacott. This has been specifically designed for people who would like the opportunity to see into the fascinating world of the honey bee, without the need to get too hands on. This one hour session will include the following:
- The workings of the hive and lifecycle of the honey bee
- A visit to our apiary to inspect the hives, including an opportunity to get hands-on (weather dependent)
- It's also possible for guests to have a drive-by apiary experience, so that you can sit in the comfort of your own car whilst observing a colony inspection
- Honey tasting, of course!
All protective clothing will be provided, although you'll need a pair of wellington boots!
Please contact us in advance if you would like to book one of these sessions. The cost is £80 per couple.
