Eating Out

Eating Out in Devon

As we're off the beaten track at Higher Kellacott, you'll need a good pair or boots to walk to one of our nearest pubs, the Clovelly Arms, which is 5 1/2 miles from us by road. At least, that is what two of our guests did!

The more relaxing option is to take a leisurely drive to the place of your choice, have a good dinner followed by a leisurely drive back. Or maybe you'll take a walk before enjoying a meal on your day out or plan a nice evening dinner. Either way, there is a choice of plenty of pubs, hotels and restaurants in the vicinity to visit during your stay, with many using local produce to produce an excellent range of freshly prepared home cooked dishes for you to choose from.  It is advisable to book in advance, so please ring first to avoid disappointment.

Strawberry Fields Farm Shop, Lifton, which is just 10 minutes drive from us, has a fabulous selection of groceries, many produced on the premises; in fact everything you'd need for your stay.  We are also fortunate to have Homeleigh Garden Centre nearby, which has a super farm shop and cafe, just a 15 minute drive to Dutson, near Launceston. Warren Butchers in Launceston not only have a fantastic selection of meats available, but also have a kiosk selling delicious Cornish Pasties and other hot foods to take away with you.

Alternatively, there are a selection of supermarkets in Okehampton, Launceston and Tavistok; all within 30 minutes of Higher Kellacott.

Fish & Chips

Of course, if you'd like to eat in, we'd highly recommend Francines in Launceston, where you can call 01566 775126 in advance to ensure a swift pick-up.

Whatever you choose, below is a small selection of venues that either we've eaten at or have been recommended by previous guests. They have been listed in order of distance from the Cottage, the nearest listed first.

The Arundell Arms

Located just a 10 minute drive from Higher Kellacott, the Arundell Arms offers fine dining in a formal restaurant, or a cosy fireside bar, where they use the finest fresh, local and seasonal ingredients to offer a memorable dining experience. Booking essential.
